Girl's Day @Volkswagen Infotainment
The Girl’s Day at Volkswagen Infotainment took place last Thursday, 27 April 2023. We wanted to show the young ladies that programming and software development is by no means only a man's job! We can tell you this much: The day was a success and the girls have it all figured out!
“How do I become a software engineer?”, was the big question at our Girl's Day. We invited eight girls aged 10 to 14 to be our guests at our Bochum site.
The day started with our colleagues Sandra Jürgensmeier and Ina Mitzich, who are software developers, and told the girls about their profession. Afterwards, the girls had the chance to explore the e-call on our test car with Claudia Mollenhauer and take part in a testing with Fatemeh Ramezani in the laboratory. They also learned about the apprenticeship in our IT department from Djamal Yusufu and at the end even tried out programming under the guidance of Jürgen Michalski, Dino Fontana, Mert Caliskan and Elias Dudziak.
The Girl's Day was a great opportunity for us to give the girls a first, playful insight into the professional world of our industry. Our goal was to get the girls excited about careers they might not have considered before. And who knows, maybe we'll see one or two of their faces back in software development in the future.
At this point, we want to thank Liz Schwarzer, Naemie Schulze and Patrick Wagener for organizing a great girls day! Thanks to all other colleagues that have been involved.
Volkswagen Infotainment: better connected.
